Team work makes the dream work
With a history rich in experiences with horses, Keara and Sara became fast friends, always bonding over their shared joy working with such physically strong yet naturally gentle animals. Keara comes from a strong back ground in colt starting, natural horsemanship and was a fearless competitor in hunters and jumpers throughout her youth in upstate New York. Sara bring a passion for dressage, developing a physically balanced horse that can create power and grace in its movements. Together they evaluate and collaborate on training, consignment, rehabilitation and lesson programs.
"It never ceases to amaze us that horses will let you drape the hides of fellow animal hides on their back, steel and metal bits in their mouth and once bonded with a person go to the ends of the earth, always sacrificing their comfort to please a human. The generous and kind spirit of a horse is something we all could embrace and value."
With the understanding that each and every horse has an independent spirit, background and protective demeanor, some learn new things quickly, others require a patient hand and repetitive training. If horses have become too pushy to their human partners it is also imperative to enforce healthy boundaries, so relationships can flourish without a fear for safety. Educating more inexperienced horses require dedication from the trainer as they must commit to the time it takes to ease horses past the fear of the unknown and encourage them to gain confidence in new areas. Desensitization, consistent physical care and exercise along with an intuitive and empathetic view on the equine makes for a recipe for happy years ahead.
